My motivation and skills
I finished my studies of social work at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne in November 2004 with a thesis about "Leading in Organisations" (Grade: 1.0 equalling 100%; honored with inclusion in my university’s Hall of Fame), with special regard to human resource management and leading in organisations of social work. The overall grade of my graduation is 2.0 (equalling 80%).
At the beginning of my studies in Cologne, I started working for KölnTicket GmbH, first as call center agent, later (May 2004 - December 2006) as team supervisor. After that, I started working at SchielConsulting GmbH, a consulting firm whose main areas are human ressource development and management diagnostics, where I will be employed until March 31st, 2006. Here, as well as in internships in varying fields of social work and in the free market, I could gather a lot of knowledge and practice for my future work.
These experiences showed me that I am very good when working together with people, be it in youth work, in counselling jobs or in human ressources. I also feel qualified for a job with leading tasks because of my job backgrounds and the knowledge I achieved through my studies and through other sources. My social and reflexive skills are highly developed; my teamworking and communicative skills are equally strong.
My job skills consist of the many qualifications of my social work studies, knowledge and practice in the field of human resource development, management diagnostics and event management (ticket front-end), fluidity in German and English, conversational skills in French and a little Spanish, IT/computer skills and intuition, plus a highly refined general knowledge and a quick mind.
Hiring me, you get an employee with a max of engagement, a strong will and ability to perform to the best of my skills, a flexible and multilateral thinker, and a talent for structuring work to optimize it. I am looking forward to enrich your team with my abilities.
If your team is best defined by objectivity and trust, if your team values solving a problem higher than finding the culprit, if your team pursues and achieves the utmost quality uncompromisingly, if your team cherishes a cheerful companionship and likeable attitude – then we should meet!
Working experience and internships
You will find here an overview over my internships and other work activities. As you will see, the emphasis is on the field of youth work and counselling.
For example, I was a member of the founding team of the Cologne youth centre "anyway", experiencing the beginnings of a youth centre from scratch. Doing that, I organized a youth-centre-based library together with colleagues, worked in a peer-to-peer youth counselling project, gave a speech to a committee of the NRW county council (Landtag Düsseldorf), and of course gained a thorough understanding and insight into the organisatorial and counselling casework of a youth centre.
During my internships at the youth organisation "Die Falken", I was one member of a team that cared for and supervised children and teens of age 8 to 15 during holiday camps, gave vocational counselling to teens about finding a profession, training places or internships (project " Das Leben ist eine Baustelle") and counselled children and teens about love, sexuality, prevention of conception or STDs and other issues of that line (project "Liebe, Lust und Leidenschaft"). Here, too, I worked in a Falken-run youth centre.
These internships emphasized not only the strong meaning of this kind of work to children and teenagers, but also my suitability for a counselling activity / line of work, especially with children or teenagers, but as well with every other kind of person.
My third internship was at Volkswagen Coaching GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Volkswagen AG which manages all educational issues and activities of the company. My main field of work here was training and educating young people aged 16 to 25, enabling them to find work in the open market, training places or internships, be it with Volkswagen or other companies. Most of these young adults did not have any qualified graduation, so they were given lessons in basic working skills and regular school subjects in order for them to meet at least the minimum requirements of any company willing to have them. For most of these youths, it was the last resort before social welfare. It was very satisfying to see their improvements and achievements.
With KölnTicket GmbH I found an employer at the very beginning of my studies. I stayed with them through my studies, quitting in December of 2006 to start my internship at SchielConsulting GmbH. At KölnTicket GmbH, I worked as call center agent for five years before being promoted to team supervisor in May 2004. I learned the ticket-booking software as well as MS-Office software and internal booking and paymen software. As team supervisor, I gave second-level support to the call center agents, working 30 h / week.
At SchielConsulting GmbH I worked in planning, preparing and execution of workshops and courses concerning human ressource development (e.g. Train The Trainer, team building, leadership courses) and assessment centres. As of April 2006, I work for Start4Jobs, a project of discemus GmbH that helps young people to find jobs or apprenticeships. My main areas of work here are in counselling, profiling and training.
Working with people, especially in the field of development and education, is very interesting and enjoyable for me. Working in a team is important to me and suits me very well; equally, I find myself well suited to leading a team. My colleagues, superiors and clients share that view.
I am searching for a new position, since I want to work in my field of studies and experiences. I am open for many areas of work. I hope that this overview gave you an insight into my skills and experiences and indicated my suitability for your organisation!
